1. How long have you been a skin health professional?

25 years

2. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I started out as a makeup artist and was encouraged to become an aesthetician as well; the two definitely go hand in hand. I liked the aspect of the skin care profession always having new opportunities for growth and knowledge.

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I have had several clients with moderate to severe cases of hyperpigmentation; bringing them back to a state of feeling comfortable with their skin and enjoying their natural glow, along with having the confidence to venture out of the door with very little or no makeup. It makes me happy to see them feeling comfortable and having them share the compliments that they receive.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

I love the basics in my treatment room, such as my steamer, lamp, results-oriented products and my gentle hands.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

When I bring new products and treatments into my studio, I share with my clients that I’ve already studied and experienced the products myself. My excitement starts before the new products are even in my studio. I believe it’s important to educate, assure and nurture my patients, so that they are also comfortable with the treatment that I have chosen for them. Everyone’s comfort level is different, so a customized approach is always good.

6. Why did you choose to partner with PCA SKIN?

I had seen PCA SKIN at various trade shows and their ads in trade journals over the years. I decided to broaden my range of peels that I was offering. Last year I finally visited the PCA SKIN booth at Face & Body and inquired about the training. I was impressed with all they had to offer in their “show package,” plus the PCA SKIN representative that helped me was both welcoming and informative. The ongoing and online education was a definite bonus; I would also say that PCA has the absolute best customer service! Whether I call in with just one question or five, they have always come through with answers and solutions for me.

7. What is your favorite PCA SKIN daily care product and why?

I love the Pigment Bar®. It is one of my best sellers and it’s a great solution for everyone with pigmentation issues. Pigment Bar® is economical, has a fresh clean scent, and leaves the skin feeling clean and looking bright. It is the best bar in a jar! I also really like the Post-Procedure Solution and the Daily Care Solution Sets; they are great little tools to have in your practice.

8. What is your favorite PCA SKIN professional treatment and why?

I love Sensi Peel®; it’s a great starting point for someone who has never experienced a peel. It also suits my more advanced peel clients. I really like the “progressive” approach to treatment. The retinoid boosters are also great to go along with Sensi Peel®.

9. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

I would tell a newly certified PCA SKIN professional to take advantage of everything that is offered, from the additional training to the online courses to the samples sizes that are available; and to never feel that one single question is not an important one. The PCA SKIN staff is really there to help build your practice.

City and State of Business: Portland, OR

1. How long have you been a skin health professional?

2 years.

2. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I went to school for hair design, but fell in love with skin care therapy

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I had a bride in her early 30s come to me with really bad acne and hyper-pigmentation on the forehead. After using good quality products, and with the help of LED light and microdermabrasion, it has faded out and she was a very happy bride.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

Yes, microdermabrasion and LED light treatments.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

I love what I do and want to really help anyone with skin problems. With PCA it has been a great success in my studio and that is because PCA really works.

6. Why did you choose to partner with PCA SKIN?

I chose to partner with PCA SKIN because the reviews that I read online are amazing.

7. What is your favorite PCA SKIN daily care product and why?

The Rejuvenating Serum, the Intensive Age Refining Treatment: 0.5% pure retinol night and also Retinol Renewal with RestorAtive Complex are all amazing anti-age serums that my husband and I use daily because we are getting old! Our skin looks amazing. My husband (52) and myself (almost 40) don’t look our ages at all.

8. What is your favorite PCA SKIN professional treatment and why?

Sensi Peel® and the Esthetique Peel made my pores shrink! I love it.

9. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

This product works, works, works. I just keep reading the PCA book to get to know the peels better on how, why and when to use them.

customer profile: Carrie Gallic

June 18, 2014

This week’s Customer Profile comes from Oregon-based aesthetician Carrie Gallic of Absolute Health Medical Center.

Name: Carrie Gallic

Business: Absolute Health Medical Center

City and State of Business: Eugene, OR

1. How long have you been a skin health professional?

I have been working in the skin industry for six years.

2. What are the primary skin types and conditions you treat?

Because I work for a naturopathic doctor, I see a wide variety of conditions. However, if I had to choose, I would say sun damaged skin and aging skin.

3. On average, how many patients do you treat each week?

I see about 12 patients in a week.

4. What is the average age group you treat?

I would say from 20-60 years young.

5. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I became a skin professional because of my own personal experiences. When I was young, I dealt with acneic skin, so I knew the feelings of self-consciousness mixed with embarrassment. Because of that, I developed this deep desire to help others look and feel their very best — both internally and externally! It’s my passion and my job is to share that with others.

6. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

Oh, I love this question. I have a client who came to see me because she was self-conscious about the sun damage around her face. Sure enough, after doing a series of six PCA SKIN chemical peels, her hyperpigmentation lightened up dramatically. She no longer “needs” to wear makeup. And as the damage to her face softened, her self-confidence and assuredness increased. It’s beautiful to watch her carry herself with more personal contentment.

7. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

I have been doing micro-needling, and it’s becoming very popular in conjunction with the Sensi Peel®.

8. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

Building my clients’ trust is the ultimate key to being a successful skin health professional. Once that’s established, I believe my natural zest for skin and its inherent beauty is an encouragement to my clients!

9. Why did you choose to partner with PCA SKIN?

I chose PCA SKIN because of my own experience with the product. It is very effective, whether you have acneic, sensitive, dry, sun-damaged or aging skin. You can customize each treatment plan to fit your clients’ needs.

10. When did you start treating patients with PCA SKIN daily care products and professional treatments?

I started treating people in 2009, while working for a hair removal company.

11. What is your favorite PCA SKIN daily care product and why?

There are two things that I always say are imperative to skin’s overall health: vitamin C and A. I like to start my clients on A&C Synergy Serum®. It is a multi-faceted PCA product that works double-time to keep patients’ skin healthy and clear from both acne and uneven skin tone. Additionally, this is a great product to mix with PCA’s C-Strength® 15% or 20% with Vitamin E to encourage both the skin brightening and antioxidant protection that all patients need.

12. What is your favorite PCA SKIN professional treatment and why?

The Ultra Peel Forte® chemical peel — physicians’ strength formula — softens fine lines and smooths while tightening the skin. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! This treatment is the most amazing peel available and it delivers great results.

13. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

Never be too afraid to do the following: first and foremost, call your PCA SKIN representatives. They are waiting to answer any of your questions. Second, step out of your comfort zone and try new PCA products. Finally, relax and have fun…remember, you are in charge!
