2. Why did you become a skin health professional?

After a car accident at a very early age, I was left with a scar across my face. As soon as the stitches were removed I started going to an aesthetician who helped my scar heal perfectly. I saw how every day my scar improved with her massage technique, serums and creams. I understood that my skin was alive; that it was grateful of everything we were doing for it; and that all it needed was time and patience to heal the right way. I am fascinated by the skin’s healing process because it holds great memory; it remembers if we are neglecting it or taking good care of it.

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

My favorite patients are young kids suffering from acneic skin. Helping them with their self-esteem is extremely rewarding to me. I will never forget the day I received the most truthful and grateful hug from a young patient that had been struggling with acne.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

Chemical peels and fractionated bi-polar radiofrequency (controlled dermal heating) are my favorite modalities to use in the treatment room.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

What makes me a successful skin health professional is constant education, and the best products and machines available on the market.

I started out as a makeup artist and was encouraged to become an aesthetician as well; the two definitely go hand in hand. I liked the aspect of the skin care profession always having new opportunities for growth and knowledge.

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I have had several clients with moderate to severe cases of hyperpigmentation; bringing them back to a state of feeling comfortable with their skin and enjoying their natural glow, along with having the confidence to venture out of the door with very little or no makeup. It makes me happy to see them feeling comfortable and having them share the compliments that they receive.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

I love the basics in my treatment room, such as my steamer, lamp, results-oriented products and my gentle hands.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

When I bring new products and treatments into my studio, I share with my clients that I’ve already studied and experienced the products myself. My excitement starts before the new products are even in my studio. I believe it’s important to educate, assure and nurture my patients, so that they are also comfortable with the treatment that I have chosen for them. Everyone’s comfort level is different, so a customized approach is always good.

6. Why did you choose to partner with PCA SKIN?

I had seen PCA SKIN at various trade shows and their ads in trade journals over the years. I decided to broaden my range of peels that I was offering. Last year I finally visited the PCA SKIN booth at Face & Body and inquired about the training. I was impressed with all they had to offer in their “show package,” plus the PCA SKIN representative that helped me was both welcoming and informative. The ongoing and online education was a definite bonus; I would also say that PCA has the absolute best customer service! Whether I call in with just one question or five, they have always come through with answers and solutions for me.

I love the Pigment Bar®. It is one of my best sellers and it’s a great solution for everyone with pigmentation issues. Pigment Bar® is economical, has a fresh clean scent, and leaves the skin feeling clean and looking bright. It is the best bar in a jar! I also really like the Post-Procedure Solution and the Daily Care Solution Sets; they are great little tools to have in your practice.

8. What is your favorite PCA SKIN professional treatment and why?

I love Sensi Peel®; it’s a great starting point for someone who has never experienced a peel. It also suits my more advanced peel clients. I really like the “progressive” approach to treatment. The retinoid boosters are also great to go along with Sensi Peel®.

9. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

I would tell a newly certified PCA SKIN professional to take advantage of everything that is offered, from the additional training to the online courses to the samples sizes that are available; and to never feel that one single question is not an important one. I have a wonderful high school male who was suffering with acne. Together we dramatically cleared up his skin with routine in-office peels and diligent use of his at-home regimen. He smiles now when he comes back for maintenance visits and his self-confidence has sky rocketed!

I like to do microdermabrasion combined with a peel. My clients like how it increases the intensity of a peel and the results.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

I really take my time to listen to the client’s skin care goals, ask about their history as well as their current lifestyle. I design the at-home regimens to best fit with their lifestyle so they will stick with it. Also, I read as much as I can about the skin care industry and stay current with classes.

I have been working in the skin care industry for three years.

2. What are the primary skin types and conditions you treat?

Because I work for a plastic surgeon I see a variety of conditions, but I mostly treat aging skin.

 3. On average, how many patients do you treat each week?

I see about 50 patients in a week.

 4. What is the average age group you treat?

I would say from 16-75 years old.

 5. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I became a skin professional because of my daughter’s experiences. My daughter has dealt with acneic, atopic dermatitis and super sensitive skin! I watched her become self-consciousness of her skin. Because of her suffering, I wanted to help others feel and look their very best!

6. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I have a client who came to see me because she suffered from melasma. She was using Obagi, and had received an Erbium laser procedure and other treatments without any results. After doing a series of four PCA SKIN chemical peels, along with her home regimen of Pigment Gel®; Brightening Therapy® with TrueTone; C-Strength 20% with 5% Vitamin E and Intensive Clarity Treatment®: 0.5% pure retinol night; now her hyperpigmentation is 80% gone. She is thrilled with the results and has become one of my best marketing agents!

7. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

I have been doing CO2 with PCA SKIN chemical peels, and it is my absolute favorite combination!

8. How are you using PCA SKIN peels with CO2?

I use PCA Peel® with Hydroquinone 15-20 minutes prior to CO2. This works great for reducing the chances of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and assisting in the removal of existing pigmentation, such as age spots.

9. What type of patient would be a candidate for CO2 laser with PCA SKIN peel?

Skin type I-III is a great candidate who also wants to erase years off their skin, improve collagen production and even surface tones. Get rid of years of sun damage and age spots!

10. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

Although I can’t cure every skin care ailment, I upgrade myself constantly with education and experience. This helps me feel more confident with giving my clients the best treatment suited for their needs. There isn’t a one-shoe-fits-all approach when it comes to skin; I adjust the products and routine according to the client’s individual skin type.

11. Why did you choose to partner with PCA SKIN?

I chose PCA SKIN because of the results! We had other professional lines in the practice and I wasn’t seeing the results that I did with PCA. PCA addresses a variety of skin conditions.

14. Describe the different types of treatments you perform.

I perform a variety of treatments on a daily basis; anywhere from laser resurfacing to a basic facial. On a less aggressive approach, I love doing a microdermabrasion with Oxygenating Trio®, what a nice combo!

It is hard to choose just one, I love all the peels! Sensi Peel® is a favorite because I have so many clients tell me they can’t have a peel because they have rosacea or sensitive skin. This TCA solution will improve surface texture and brighten the skin while helping to promote an even skin tone. Clients are amazed and very happy to have something that works for their skin.

16. Which PCA SKIN peel is most effective and for what type of skin condition?

PCA Peel® with Hydroquinone is a great treatment for stubborn melasma. I also love to prep the skin with Clarify: Therapeutic Salicylic Acid Mask.

17. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

PCA SKIN representatives are all very knowledgeable and eager to help you be the best PCA SKIN Certified Professional! I have honestly called from another treatment room while a client is waiting and asked for recommended treatment options. Always listen to what your clients concerns are. Be honest and enjoy.

I had a bride in her early 30s come to me with really bad acne and hyper-pigmentation on the forehead. After using good quality products, and with the help of LED light and microdermabrasion, it has faded out and she was a very happy bride.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

Yes, microdermabrasion and LED light treatments.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

I love what I do and want to really help anyone with skin problems. With PCA it has been a great success in my studio and that is because PCA really works.

I have been a skin health professional for 10 years.

2. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I knew in my early teens that I wanted to be an aesthetician. I believe my love for skincare came from my Nana, who is 103, and my dad. I did facial masks at a very young age and was always the family “extractor”. Unfortunately, when I graduated high school there were no aesthetic programs in my state and I chose another career path. The love of skin care never went away and, at 40 years old, I went back to school and fulfilled my lifelong dream of being an aesthetician. I opened Simply Skin a year after I graduated.

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I personally suffered with cystic acne and have a soft spot for those who have, too. A new client came to me with concerns of uneven, rough, dull skin left behind from acne. She was getting married and wanted glowing skin. We did a treatment series with Ultra Peel® I and got her on a home regimen which transformed her skin. She wrote me a beautiful letter thanking me.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

High frequency is my favorite modality used in the treatment room. I love my high frequency machine and so do my clients! They will call me when they have breakouts and say, ‘Can you do that zappy thing on me?’ It’s older, tried and true technology that can really make a difference in acne patients, and calms the skin beautifully after extractions.

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

I’m passionate about my clients achieving their personal best when it comes to their skin. I pride myself on treating every client who walks through my door as an individual and give them 100% of my attention. Every appointment with me should be a positive experience with positive results. Over the years, many clients have told me that they love that I’m so meticulous.

Since 2006.

2. Why did you become a skin health professional?

I was unhappy in my career and questioning my plans to continue on for a Masters degree. I was very interested in going to school for massage, but also knew that I had a fascination with skin care. My aesthetician at the time, who became a mentor in my career, suggested that aesthetics might satisfy my interests in both areas. Plus, burnout in my current field led me to desire a career where I could come away happy and feel like I made someone’s day better. On an added side note, I am now back in school to become a licensed medical massage therapist as well.

3. Tell us about a time you improved a patient’s life by addressing their skin concerns.

I hope that I am always improving my patients’ lives by addressing their skin concerns. I know that rosacea and acne caused embarrassment and lack of confidence in myself growing up and even into early adulthood. Proper skin care and makeup has completely changed how I feel about myself and I want to share that benefit with my clients. I do have one client that developed melasma after going through cancer treatments. The last thing a cancer survivor needs is a permanent reminder of her illness on her face. She treated it quickly and we had success with Ultra Peel I and PCA Peel with Hydroquinone in just a few sessions. I have another client that does modeling, and the harsh makeup and constant cleansing was creating irritation, acne and asphyxiation. When she first came to me, her skin was on fire with disrupted barrier function from everything she had been doing to it. One sample of Hydrating Serum and Clearskin showed her a new way of caring for her skin, and now she absolutely loves her skin and will use any treatment or product that I recommend from PCA.

4. Do you have a favorite modality used in the treatment room?

I specialize in only superficial chemical peels. In past positions, I had experience with medium depth chemical peels, microdermabrasion, LED, laser resurfacing and thermal treatments. When I opened my own practice, I really felt that I could treat almost every client and every condition successfully with minimal contraindications and downtime by just using PCA SKIN treatments. I love PCA!

5. What makes you a successful skin health professional?

I think my success stems from immense education and the ability to share it with my clients. I can thoroughly explain to them what is occurring with their skin, and how my treatments and products will correct the situation. I have experienced many skin conditions myself and use all of the treatments and products that I recommend. I believe in what I offer, I practice what I preach and I really care about my clients.

I was introduced to PCA SKIN at my first job out of school. It was the first product line I used that actually produced visible results in my skin and I was hooked! The treatments and products work great, and the price is accessible for many people. Plus, you absolutely cannot beat the education and support that PCA provides to its partners.

Clearskin is my absolute favorite product from PCA SKIN and my best seller. It is so difficult sometimes to convince oily, acneic or sensitive patients to use a regular moisturizer. All it takes is one sample of Clearskin to show them there is a product that works! It feels lightweight, yet provides so much hydration, and soothes and heals breakouts and sensitivities so well.

8. What is your favorite PCA SKIN professional treatment and why?

Ultra Peel I is my favorite professional treatment. It gives amazing results with such minimal after effect and is good for nearly all clients. If I only had one treatment to work with, that is what I would keep around.

9. What would you say to a newly certified PCA SKIN professional?

I would tell a newly certified PCA SKINprofessional that they made the right choice! Also, I would tell them not to be afraid of chemical peels. Some people are very hesitant to perform and/or receive these treatments because “chemical peel” sounds so scary. I would reassure them that PCA has made the safest treatments that are so easy to use with minimal side effect.
