relief for dry skin!

In January of 2011, one of our long-time PCA SKIN® favorites, Dry Skin Relief Bar®, was discovered by “O Magazine”! Of course at PCA SKIN we have always known how this innovative bar fixes the worst of dry skin woes, but it is exciting that the folks at “O” have called it a miracle. If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind soap in a jar, the time is now to give it a try. It is appropriate for use on the face and body – you can even use it on dry, itchy scalps. The unique formulation doesn’t just hydrate, it also removes the excess cell buildup that can be common in many dry skin conditions, leaving skin healthy and hydrated.

This innovative product comes with three sponges to create a lather that sits on your skin for two minutes, making it more effective than just a quick wash. In addition, if you favor a hand-held rotating brush machine for cleansing, most of the brush heads fit nicely into the jar, making this an even more effective way to use the Dry Skin Relief Bar®.

Here are a few of the active ingredients and how they function in the skin:

Glycerin is a humectant and emollient that helps to bind water to the skin. Glycerin is one of the most effective topical hydrators, as it is readily accepted by the aquaporins (water channels) in the skin cells. It also improves the appearance and function of the skin by assisting in the healthy maturation of keratinocytes.

Resorcinol is sourced from wood barks. It is a flaking agent and keratolytic. In low concentrations it is purifying and anti-itch.

Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract provides vitamin A to the skin.

Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and nutrients.

Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil contains naturally occurring tocopherol (vitamin E). This d-isomer tocopherol is the most potent and only occurs naturally in plants, such as the soybean. Soybean oil is a natural source of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids and helps to maintain moisture within the skin.

For professionals, this is a great second cleanse for your patients with dry skin conditions and it can also be paired with our Body Therapy for patients with keratosis pilaris to use at home.
