prepare for the cold air

As the colder weather of winter begins, it’s time to take extra precautions to assure we are maintaining optimal skin health. Higher wind speeds and lower temperatures leave the skin dry, dehydrated and, in some cases, impaired. During this season it is imperative to increase moisture and, as always, protect against the damaging UVA and UVB rays of the sun.

If you are looking for a treatment to boost hydration without downtime, consider the PCA SKIN® Hydrate: Therapeutic Oat Milk Mask. The humectant oat milk is also a potent antioxidant that manages dry and sensitive skin conditions. The inclusion of glycerin, another humectant, helps bind water to the skin. Advanced botanicals and pro-vitamins, like cucumber, arnica and panthenol, alleviate redness and irritation and improve the overall integrity of the skin.

For at-home use, consider adding an extra moisturizer to your daily routine. Silkcoat® Balm is the ultimate nighttime treatment for sensitive, dry and mature skin, as well as skin in harsh or cold climates. With jojoba seed oil (a natural emollient with effective moisturizing properties) and hydrolyzed silk (a light, non-greasy moisturizer and skin conditioning agent), as well as a host of antioxidants and botanicals, this balm will hydrate even the driest of skin.

Those looking for more hydration throughout the day should look to Hydrating Serum, formulated with a clinically-proven blend of antioxidants and humectants to maintain adequate moisture levels in the skin. Aloe vera leaf juice, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and panthenol, among other ingredients, soften the skin while improving the appearance and moisture retention.

The lips oftentimes bear the brunt of harsh, cold weather, becoming easily chapped and cracked due to the thin nature of the skin in this area. Using a hydrating lip product like Peptide Lip Therapy will plump the lips and improve overall lip health and appearance. Moisture retention is boosted in the lips with BMX complex (reduces flakiness and increases hydration), as well as safflower seed oil, castor oil and sunflower seed oil (essential fatty acids prevent water loss), among many other hydrating ingredients.

Finally, never forget daily use of a broad spectrum sunscreen product with an SPF of at least 30. PCA SKIN has an SPF for all skin types:

  • Weightless Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 45
  • Perfecting Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 30
  • Protecting Hydrator Broad Spectrum SPF 30
  • Hydrator Plus Broad Spectrum SPF 30
  • Active Broad Spectrum SPF 45: Water Resistant

Remember that sunscreen should be applied in the morning at least 20 minutes prior to leaving the house and reapplied every two hours when outdoors.

This winter, leave dry skin behind with PCA SKIN!
